Stephen Masalta is charged with multiple counts of indecent exposure
A Colorado grocery store worker has been charged with several counts of indecent exposure after police alleged he masturbated on food items.
Stephen Masalta was originally arrested in February after the Fort Collins Police Services alleged that he had been seen masturbating outside multiple businesses in view of employees and, in at least one case, a juvenile, beginning in July 2023.
Following his arrest in February, police say further investigation revealed that Masalta worked at a Safeway grocery store and allegedly masturbated and ejaculated onto food items during the two months he worked at the store.
Police say they anticipate that there are additional victims and more charges could follow.
A statement from Safeway to KDVR reads, “At Safeway, the safety of our customers and associates is our top priority. We are deeply concerned about the allegations against the former associate, and we are cooperating with the Fort Collins Police and the Health Department in the ongoing investigation of this incident.”

Masalta is charged with 14 counts of indecent exposure, two counts of attempted indecent exposure, four counts of unlawful sexual contact and 16 counts of attempted sexual assault on a child, police say.
It is not immediately clear if Masalta has entered pleas to the charges or retained an attorney, but an online court docket indicates that he is due for a first appearance on March 22.
