This man grows and sells marijuana through an online shop: Okezone News

BANDUNG – A man with the initials BT was arrested by the Bandung Police Narcotics Investigation Unit in a case of illegal marijuana distribution.

The man who works as an entrepreneur has made his house located on Jalan Mawar, Cibeunying Kidul District, Bandung City a ‘marijuana garden’.

The 37 year old man’s actions were considered reckless. The reason is, he planted the marijuana trees from seeds and then sold them directly through the online shop.

However, his reckless actions were also detected by the police. BT was also arrested at his home, Tuesday (24/5/2022) evening. During the arrest, the Bandung Police Narcotics Investigation Unit succeeded in confiscating dozens of live marijuana plants cultivated by BT.

“There were 43 marijuana trees that were successfully recovered from the perpetrators,” said Bandung Police Chief, Police Commissioner Aswin Sipayung accompanied by Narcotics Head, AKBP Ricky Hendarsyah at the Bandung Police Narcotics Unit Headquarters, Jalan Sukajadi, Bandung City, Wednesday (25/5/2022).

Based on the results of the examination, continued Aswin, the perpetrator also obtained the marijuana seeds from an online shop. The perpetrator’s reckless action began with his friendship via Facebook with another perpetrator with the initials U who is now on the wanted list (DPO).

“He has been planting these marijuana trees for a year now. The marijuana seeds he planted were also obtained from an online shop,” said Aswin.

After successfully cultivating marijuana trees, the perpetrator then sold the marijuana leaves through an online shop. The perpetrator set a price of IDR 200,000 for every 5 grams of marijuana leaves.

“He sold Rp. 200,000 of marijuana for every five grams,” he said.

According to Aswin, the perpetrator had been selling the marijuana he cultivated since six months ago and the perpetrator had carried out 15 transactions.

Apart from confiscating dozens of live marijuana trees, his party also secured a number of other pieces of evidence, including three plastic bags containing marijuana seeds, several plastic wraps containing marijuana leaves, four ultraviolet lamps for cultivating marijuana, and various marijuana packaging equipment sold by the perpetrator.

As a result of his actions, BT was charged under Article 114 paragraph 1 and/or Article 111 paragraph 2 of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics and was threatened with a maximum imprisonment of 20 years.

“The maximum (threat) is 20 years,” said Aswin.
